Coffee

Drinking coffee in the morning is believed many people can provide additional energy to start the activity. However, recent studies have found that coffee lovers are more prone to drug addiction.

It's not all coffee lovers using drugs. But if you already know, people who like to drink coffee addiction easier for illegal drugs such as cocaine and amphetamines.

It is based on the study of Vermont University researchers in the United States that have been published in Drug and Alcohol Dependence.

According to researchers, people who respond positively to caffeine including coffee and energy drinks, will be more easily respond to other stimulant drugs such as amphetamines and cocaine. This is the reason why coffee lovers can easily become addicted to drugs.

"People respond to the drug in very different ways. For example, a single dose of drug can produce completely opposite effects on the two men that one of them really love coffee and other hate coffee," explains Professor Stacey Sigmon of Vermont University, USA, as reported by Dailymail, Wednesday (12/10/2011).

Professor Sigmon said it was important to enhance the understanding of these differences, because this could be a key difference in susceptibility or resistance to drug abuse.

The scientists believe that one's response to d-amphetamine also show how they will respond to drugs like cocaine because it has the same effect.

This study is the first prospective study of caffeine in predicting positive subjective effects to other drugs.

"Although this data does not mean that all coffee lovers at risk for becoming addicted to cocaine, but this study suggests that individuals vary greatly in subjective and behavioral responses to psychomotor stimulants," concludes Professor Sigmon.
